American Airlines Commercial (1998)

Not only does this TV commercial end with a plane flying toward the Twin Towers, but it's American Airlines, "New York's Bridge To The World™." (of course, American was one of the two airlines, United being the other, hijacked in 9/11). - JR

At the very end of the commercial, when the car is on the bridge, look at the upper lefthand quadrant of the screen.

Committee for a Reasonable World Trade Center Print Ad (1968)

Committee for a Reasonable World Trade Center Print Ad (1968) The Committee for a Reasonable World Trade Center Print Ad, a group ooposed to the construction of the WTC, ran a full-page ad in the New York Times, May 2, 1968, warning about the dangers of airplanes hitting the twin towers. In reality, it appears the CRWTC was exploiting propaganda for its own agenda, which had nothing to do with fears of air safety (and the possibility the towers would "thoroughly foul up TV reception," another point mentioned in the ad):

"Private real estate developers and members of the Real Estate Board of New York also expressed concerns about this much 'subsidized' office space going on the open market, competing with the private sector when there was already a glut of vacancies. An especially vocal critic was Lawrence A. Wien, owner of the Empire State Building, which would lose its title of tallest building in the world. Wien organized a group of builders into a group called the 'Committee for a Reasonable World Trade Center' to demand that the project be scaled down."

IBM Commercial Footage (Undated)

The filmmaker writes:

"Several years ago while living in New York City, I was hired to shoot footage of business people for an IBM television commercial.

"I went down to the World Trade Center and spent the next 6 hours of my life transfixed in those buildings and the people that worked within them. I felt invisible at times, even when someone reacted to my having a camera, I remained in my position as an outside member.

"After the tragic events of September 11, 2001, I am no longer that. None of us are."The following footage is a memorial to the buildings and people at a time in which it lived and thrived. I hope that this short piece reminds us of the life and energy that existed there and pray that one day it will return."
