The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Tim Robbins escapes through a hole he's been digging all these years (which is why he wanted the poster of Rita Hayworth — to cover the hole in his cell wall). The crooked warden is exposed, but before the authorities can break down his office door, he shoots himself. When Morgan Freeman is released, he meets up with Tim in Mexico, and the two presumably live happily ever after.
