Dil (Jaye Richardson) is a biological male. Dil kills Miranda Richardson. Jimmy / Angus (Stephen Rea) takes the rap for Dil, and goes to prison for a long time. Completely devoted to him, Dil waits for his release. (Oh yeah, and the IRA doesn't waste Jody, the British soldier (Forrest Whitaker); as he runs from Angus, he gets run over and killed by a truck.)
