Child's Play (1988)
Chucky kills Karen's (Catherine "Seventh Heaven" Hicks) pal Maggie (Dinah Manoff) while she's babysitting Andy (Alex Vincent), and then, later, kills his old voodoo-guru/partner in crime.
The detective (Chris Sarandon) thinks Andy is a little psychopathic killer, and Andy is locked up at Bellevue... until Chucky electrocutes one of Andy's shrinks. Andy escapes the hospital and returns to the apartment, where he encounters Chucky again (of course!).
Chucky is in the midst of a spell to transfer his soul into Andy's body when Karen bursts in. As she engages in mano-a-mano combat with the little devil-doll, Chris Sarandon bursts in. Chucky stabs him, then puts him down with a baseball bat. Karen shoots Chucky, and finally traps him in the fireplace, where Andy sets him alight. But, wait! Chucky's not dead yet! His charred corpse has one more go at Andy, until Karen shoots him repeatedly... and then Chris blows him away one last time.
